Air Fryer Roasted Chicken

Simply Delicious and super simple! Air fryers make cooking a whole meal for your family effortless. With this recipe you will get flavorful and juicy chicken with a perfect crispy skin every time! Don’t have an air fryer? Get one here. The air fryer does more than roast chicken. So you aren’t purchasing a useless appliance with only one application or function. It’s perfect for roasting vegetables, re-heating leftovers, and cooking things you would have otherwise fried. Heck, you can even cook cupcakes if you have the proper pan! The air circulation of the air fryer provides for even cooking, and also cuts down on cooking time, because it doesn’t need preheated like an oven or oil would need to be. For this recipe you will need an air fryer big enough to cook a whole chicken. The air fryer I used for this recipe is a 5.3 quart and has enough room around the outside of the chicken, where you can place vegetables to be roasted at the same time.

Ingredients

  • 1 5lb Whole Chicken
  • 1/2 Medium Onion Quartered
  • 3 Whole Cloves garlic Halved
  • 1 Tablespoon Salt
  • 1 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Fresh Cracked Pepper
  • 1 Teaspoon Paprika
  • 1 Teaspoon Lemon Juice

Instructions

  • First start by prepping your chicken. Remove the neck and gizzards, retaining them for later use if desired. As they are great from making chicken gravy or stock.
  • In a small bowl combine the salt, garlic powder, paprika and pepper.
  • Evenly lather the chicken inside and out with the prepared seasoning mixture.
  • Stuff the garlic cloves and onions inside the chicken.
  • Place the chicken breast side up inside the fryer basket.
  • Cook the chicken for 20 minutes at 360 degrees. After the 20 minutes, flip the chicken over and cook for 20 minutes more to cook and crisp the underside.
  • Remove from fryer. Let the chicken rest for 10 Minutes after cooking, before you cut and serve. Cutting too soon will cause the juices to run all over the cutting board instead of being obsorbed by the meat.
  • The onion and garlic that was placed inside the chicken was used for aromatics, but will be fully cooked, and is safe to be consumed.

Notes

If desired, potatoes can be sliced and placed around the chicken, and cooked at the same time.  Depending on the thickness of the potatoes, They will need 20-30 minutes to cook fully.
